Extinguish Your Flaws and Ignite Your Potentials

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom. 10:17

Ellen Goodman once shared that “ we spend January 1st walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done and cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws but for potentials.”

In the past, whenever I prayed, I sometimes asked God to show me clearly what He wanted me to change or do at the commencement of a new year and then, I strive to hear His response. Sometimes, this could lead to a sense of frustration and doubt when it seems like God is not communicating with me. But whenever I read my Bible, there is always a message for me from Him. Sometimes it’s a story in the Bible that speaks to my current situation or gives me guidance on how to approach a problem or get through a challenging day. Sometimes it’s a warning — telling me to avoid something. But overall, through His Word, I have the reassurance that He is with me, He has my best interest at heart, He is listening to me, and that He is speaking to me.

There is a wealth of wisdom in the Word and this is one of the reasons why I always strive to ensure that my family and I attend the online daily Bible reading offered by our church to hear the word of God. Delegating less than 1 hour to listening and hearing His Word is not too much to intentionally commit to. Reading, hearing, and listening to His word illuminates our path in life’s journey. My hope is that in 2026, more people will discover the richness of His Word and experience the heartfelt conversations with the Lord that I have been blessed to have. Brothers and sisters, perhaps you, too, have felt moments when God’s Word reached deep into your heart. I encourage you to embrace those moments, to invite more people to dive into scripture with you, and to allow it to transform your life. Look for potential souls that need to hear His word clearly and invite them to get plugged into our daily Bible Reading. May His Word guide you, strengthen you, comfort you, and transform you — today and every day.
